PRL update today

I went to 01115 from 60678 and my 3G speed went from kinda slow to ohhhh sooooo slowwww. I was hoping this meant they were getting things up to speed. Not.

Only a mile from the closest tower too.

I just came back from a Sprint store and was this is something buggy on Sprint's network backend. This PRL is going out to all Sprint's cell phones regardless of brand, model, or software versions. Not sure when this will be fixed but was told to try downloading tienPRL manually every couple of hours and eventually we will get the right PRL on our phones. Does this help?

That's a lot better to hear then the post before yours. :D

I just checked mine and wouldn't you know it....01115

I read somewhere (wish I could remember where) that it is to remove 3G roaming, except for business customers in IL and CA. Don't know how much truth there is to that.

Within the link I posted is another link to detailed information about what this update changes for each region.

i got the 1115 in salt lake utah.

i started getting the *htc streaming network error screen. contact sprint*.

everytime i flash the rom i get that message. it stops once i do the prl and profrile.

Got this damned 1115 PRL now on my 2 Blackberries, my EVO, and my Sierra Wireless Overdrive 4G mifi. I have confirmed with HTC, Blackberry, and Sierra Wireless that this is an invalid PRL for these devices, and that it DOES, repeat, DOES prevent calling 911 when roaming, which is a violation of FCC regulations. Any one know what Sprint will do to fix this problem?

All mobile phones, even mobile phones not on a carrier plan can still call 911, and every deactivated phone has an "invalid PRL" on it... Sorry, but you'd have to show me something from a reputable source that says the same thing.

I've talked about the above link in another thread. My theory on this, and it's pure speculation on my part, is that sprint doesn't want to lease tower space anymore, and this is my guess why: Wimax. The other carriers have their own 4G versions such as LTE. So since sprint is using Clearwire for Wimax, it's time for sprint to roll out their own towers for wimax. They have to do it anyway as they roll out sprint 4G, so might as well make a clear cut from competitors.

Just my guess. :p :D

that would explain the reasoning why they want to switch to lte once there contract runs out with clearwire.

they shoulda thought about that BEFORE things started happening though.

i can't imagine them losing coverage. that would be stupidity and customers will disappear like crazy. specially after they've been working so hard to gain traction in customers.

who knows though. maybe in the end V and ATT will be all that stands.
prices will skyrocket.
and home phones will come back into play.

I thought Sprint owned a good portion of Clearwire. With all the trouble that company has been having in the financial sector, I think Sprint should sell the assets and switch to LTE. Which I will say atm is faster than WiMAX, but from what I'm getting from some guys I know at T-Mobile...there saying the their getting around 15Mbps down on a good steady average. With the goal of 69Mbps, which would awesome!!! We shall see though. ;-)
