Don't know if anyone else has had this problem, but following the update to Marshmallow - Android 6.x - my LG G4 lost the ability to playback videos it had just taken.

Sent the video to my computer and it played fine so the video was not corrupted. I could also play videos from before the update. Just not videos taken by the built in video camera.

After two hours on the phone with LG and Google, the standard suggestion of doing a factory reset was advised. The phone is still under warranty and LG offered to send me a return mailer. They estimated a 10 day turnaround on a warranty repair.

Neither of these options were attractive. While pondering which option would be best, it occurred to me that I could be experiencing a software conflict.

When I would try to play a video I'd just recorded I would get a "Playback Error" then a message about refreshing the media library.

SOLUTION

Turned out a 3rd party "video player" app for some reason created a conflict. Since it was the only video app I had downloaded, I uninstalled it and immediately my video playback began working again.

If anyone else has discovered this problem try this solution.

Thanks for the info! For a while, this was also happening due to a problem with a Google+ update, so if anyone else sees this thread and the above solution doesn't work, also try uninstalling Google+ or its updates. It's actually ok to reinstall Google+ afterwards, because users have said that videos play again even after reinstalling G+.
