Problem controlling videos on YouTube app - Fullscreen Mode

So i just recently got my tablet about a week ago. I've made sure all my apps are updated.
I've been having an issue with the playback of videos in the YouTube app.

If i maximize the screen, once the controls (the duration bar, play/pause button, quality buttons, ect) disappear, I can't bring them back up by tapping on the screen like you should be able to. I have to hit the back button by the home button to make it smaller then all the controls come back up. This means in order to pause the video in fullscreen i have to hit back then pause then re-maximize it.

Is there some setting that disables me from having input on fullscreen videos that i'm missing?

Also this sometimes happens when its just on the medium size as well (in portrait mode) so i'll have to like pull it down to make it the really small screen in the bottom right then pull it back up to maximize it.

Is this an app problem or a tablet problem?

I think I read someplace that it's a bug with Samsung tablets. My Note 10.1 (2014) has the same behavior. I'm hoping it's fixed with the update to the "Material design" version of the YT app (supposedly out, I might search it out and side-load it).

Noticed that too, been working around that problem by tapping full screen while on portrait mode, then turn the tablet around to landscape and it will keep the full screen mode and retain all the video controls, if you turn the tablet to landscape mode BEFORE you go full screen, you lose your video controls for some reason. Kinda of a pain, hope they fix that soon.

Thanks for this workaround, i'll have to try it out.

EDIT: This does in fact work! Glad there's something to do in the meantime till it's fixed.

I got the YouTube update on my Note 10.1 last night, it seems to have resolved this issue. Keep your eyes peeled for it. This is the update that brings Material Design to the app, I'm still working my way through it as there are some changes that I think end up being for the worse.
