problem deleting a email account

I have a galaxy s4 that I have an email account configured for and I can't seem to delete that account. When I try I get an error stating that I cannot delete this account cannot connect to the server. When I go to the email settings it looks like that account may be corrupt.
is there any type of Cleanup utility that I might be able to use to get rid of an account that is corrupt? Any help is greatly appreciated.

If you have other accounts then I don't know if this will be good for you, it depends on the type of email accounts and the way you set them first, BUT, I can tell you that the easiest way to solve your issue is going to Menu-More-Application Manager and look for the Email App in the All tab, and Clear data. This will completely reset to factory your Email App.
