My first post I put in the wrong forum. I'm having problems loading a custom rom on my phone. I have the phone root and using clockworkmod. I have no problem booting up to load the rom. First I wipe and format and then I flash a rom and flash the gapps with no problems. But when the phone boots it tells me that i have unauthozied software loaded and thats it and I have to reload using odim to get back to stock. What am I missing. Also I do not have the boot unlocked.

You need to unlock your bootloader, that must be done before you can flash a custom ROM. Happened to me, tried to flash a ROM and forgot that my bootloader wasn't unlocked. Got the same deadly triangle courtesy of Verizon. As a result, I had to go back to Odin download mode on my phone to unlock the bootloader, but once I had it unlocked, everything else worked fine after that.

As stated above you cannot flash roms without a unlocked bootloader.

If I'm not mistaken ez unlock still works. Look over at xda they make several ways to unlock.

I just found the apk but is there a way to confirm I'm unlocked? It says I am but I wanna make sure before i attempt a rom

When you restart your phone, watch the Samsung logo.. If it flashes quickly then continues the boot process, you are unlocked, if it hangs for a couple seconds before continuing the boot process, its not unlocked.

I followed the procedures over on xda-developer forum to unlock my bootloader. Haven't used one of the single-click boot loader unlocker or root apps, I'm more comfortable using Odin to do that stuff (updating TWRP, unlocking boot loader, etc.).

I was more comfortable with using Odin to handle all that too. The last time I rooted though I tried a one-click tool from Beanstown106 at XDA [7/30] [Casual] [Root, Unlock, Recovery] Vzw S3 Toolkit or 1-Click!! [ALL OTA's] As a backup, I had all of what I would need to fix my device with Odin. The one-click tool worked really well. It was easy and I was done in less than five minutes. These easy tools are good timesavers if you have an understanding of what they do and how to fix it when things go wrong.

Welcome to the forums!
I would suggest posting this in the Sony Xperia forums. You posted in the Galaxy S3.
