Problem while making calls

I bought my wife a 32gb note 5 and she has developed a problem with it. While making calls she can hear what the person calling is saying but they can't hear her. While the phone is on speaker phone the other caller can hear her. What could be the problem? Should we take it back to VZW?

Check the primary phone mic opening--is it blocked by anything, like an ill-fitting case, or lint or other debris? If not, then the phone mic might be faulty, in which case I'd bring it back to Verizon for an exchange.
