Problem with audio when recording video

i certainly hope so, I rather keep my unit than replace it since theres nothing wrong with it other than this video recording bug, and here i thought i was lucky got one of the good ones :p

didn't notice this problem until this thread. wtf, this is my 2nd t-bolt. maybe i should cancel, and go back to 10 hour battery life on my galaxy s.

Seems like this is a software issue with every TB. In which case HTC will most likely come out with a fix future in the near. Other than that the camera works awesome. None of the lag that the EVO used to have.

Went to a Verizon store today and tried out the demo units, they had the same problem there, talk to a rep and this was a completely new problem to him and he said he would check it out some more later tonight, gonna head to another Verizon store later Nd see is their demo units have he same prob

I have been trying to reach out to HTC to address this issue, here was the response....

my suggestion is to turn off the phone, remove the battery for 20 seconds, replace and turn the phone back on. If this does not fix the problem, you will need to perform a factory reset.

Factory reset is not a step to be taken lightly. It’ll permanently delete all your data and
customized settings, and will remove any applications you’ve downloaded and installed. Be sure to
back up any data and files you want to keep before you do a factory reset using HTC Sync.

Performing a factory reset via settings
Press HOME > MENU, and then tap Settings.
Tap SD & phone storage > Factory data reset.
On the Factory data reset screen, tap Reset phone, and then tap Erase everything.

If this does not resolve the issue contact Verizon repairs: PCD US, 1-800-229-1235 (8:30 AM - 5
PM EST M-F).

I clearly stated to the issue and that I tried multiple demo phones at the VZ store with all the same problem. But they provide some generic email response. I have no idea at this point if they have acknowledged an issue with this or intend on fixing it. I will update you all with any new information I receive.

In the mean time please keep trying to work with verizon and htc for a resolution, power in numbers!

My first post here.

Regarding this sound problem: has anyone tried to connect a headset with microphone and then record video? How is the sound quality then?

I have a Sony Ericsson Vivaz and that device had the problem with really low voices when video was recorded. It was solved in later updates but the initial solution was to always connect the headset and record video using that microphone. It created a huge difference in sound level.

It sounds like the Thunderbolt has the same issue so perhaps the solution can be the same. Or rather - the temporary solution.

Good thought, i went right over to my head phones and recorded some video. Same crummy result though. Im confident this can be fixed with a software update, I would like like when to expect it. HTC doesnt seem to want to come off that info.

When I record a video, it seems like it is recording it fine, but it only plays the sound back through my earpiece and not the speaker on back. Anyone else?

transferred videos play fine (.avi movies)

but yes--just tried the recording of my voice only one foot from the phone and played it back--and it was low low low.

add it to the list.

Again, from my initial testing it doesn't affect voice very close to the microphone, only ambient sounds, as if you're trying to record someone across the room or outside. To me it is as if the programmer forgot to turn off noise canceling on the mic and switch it to "speakerphone" mode where you disable noise cancellation so you can hear everything.

I bet its a bit that can be set easily by any programmer.

Just came from another Verizon store, the rep's own tbolts did the same thing, its definitely affecting a lot of tbs if not most, my fear was that this was a hardware prob until I tried recording with the voice recorder, that pick up my voice no problem from far away.

I just went to the verizon store in santa barbara and their phones had the same issue. The employee told me he was going to fill out a form and inform HTC the problem.
