"Problem with Authorization" Factory Reset

Only a few hours after rooting my NC I received a message that said "There was a problem with Authorization. Please wait while your device is reset." BAM! Wiped the whole thing.

I know this has been discussed here, as well as on the XDA forums. I also know that there was a supposed "fix" for this by renaming the file (otacerts.zip) that would prevent B&N from checking the device and pushing updates or remote resets.

My question is this, can anyone confirm if the above fix works? Can you access the B&N shop without the device getting reset? Can you use Titanium backup?

I'm also curious if anyone else has been affected by this recently with your NC?

I really don't want to go through the process of re-rooting and re-installing everything (even with titanium backup). THANKS!

I haven't seen that but i'm on CM7. Do you know if it's only an issue if you are running a variant of stock?

I can't see how they could hit me with that since I don't have anything on here from B&N, not even the kernel.

That just happened to me about 10 minutes ago. I was running a rooted stock 1.1.0. Based on the extras apps available now, it looks like I'm still rooted, but lost all the other apps I had added. Time to hit Titanium, I guess.

Kinda freaky though. Felt like Big Brother B&N was watching me...

I renamed my file and have been rooted for a month. So far no reset. I buy a book a week.

I had the same problem when I first got my Nook (off ebay). Previous owner had it registered. I was able to Root it (version 1.1, AN 3.0), and have not had any problems.

Happened to me also while I was on rooted 1.00, now on 1.1 with autonooter 3and all is well going on 3 weeks. Ive been using the Kindle app and buying books and stuff from amazon, Ive been avoiding the BandN site.
