When I call someone or they call me, I hear them but they can't hear me. This occurs with the native telephone app of the phone, and the software phone I use for my landline number on the mobile. So you'd think microphone issues. BUT, when I go to google, and use voice search, it hears exactly what I say, and prints it. So the microphone is working. All app and phone settings are correct. I have a dual sim phone, I have the same symptoms on both sims. When I use the softphone on Wifi, the same symptom. The phone is unusable as a phone, I have had to buy a cheap dumb phone for calls. Any ideas please? Thanks in advance.

Welcome to Android Central! It's possible that the primary mic (at the bottom of the phone) is blocked (like by a poorly fitting case, or by debris lodged in the microphone grille). There's usually a secondary mic at the top of the phone that's used for things like speakerphone calls, voice search, etc., which is why that function still works.

If you have a case, take it off. Also inspect the microphone opening at the bottom of the phone and see if it's clogged by lint or something else.
