problem with gmail app on HONOR 8

gmail app is unusable. it will open and closed immediately. i tried to setup gmail account in native email app. it won't allow gmail account to setup. gmail said security is not high enough and IMAP or POP3 was disabled. i have both able in gmail account.

UPDATE after clearing the app and cache data, even after gmail was update (i deleted the update after clearing data), it has been working fine. thanks for the help

Are you using gmail for a third party email service or are you using Gmail? I have my gmail client setup for an exchange server (work) and Im using inbox for my gmail account (although I can use gmail to access my gmail account as well). Just curious on why you'd be setting up Pop3 or IMAP for gmail account?

I had no issues with the Gmail app. It installed and updated fine and I have 2 separate accounts I'm using it for. I would try doing a factory reset and just try setting up gmail as the very first app and see if you still have the same issue. There may be another app that is causing an issue, possibly.

You can try to clear cache and app data on the Gmail app

I did everything you mentioned. gmail was setup first before any apps update and worked without problem. after the update, the problem happened again. i am using gmail app to get gmail.
