Problem with google maps Wikipedia layer

On Android 1.6, Google maps version: 3318, Acer liquid
Map shows wikipedia 'W' s but when you click on them, it just shows two options:
1. Show on map
2. Get Directions

It Does not show wikipedia article summary

Earlier it used to, but then I was installing bunch of apps from Market place and noticed this happening after.

Causes I can think of :
Maybe wikipedia mobile server is down? ( but I checked in browser, it was working)
Some other app has reconfigured the layer ?
I have changed some setting.

Not much help articles on the web about this layer as it seems to be working smoothly for everyone

anyone here facing the same issue?

Edit: Is there some way I can track the network requests going from the phone? That way I can see if its at least sending a request to mobile wikipedia.

Ok, I researched the issue a bit, Some other people are facing the same problem and not just from android phones, even from browsers, googlemaps is failing to load info windows for wikipedia.

Seems the wiki server infrastructure is having issues

Same problem with BB Google Maps v4.0.2

Hi - I have the same problem with the Wikipedia layer in Blackberry Google maps? Have you resolved the problem yet? If so, how?
