Problem with Google search app or Android 13 or MIUI 14

Hi, anytime I high light and select text and in the menu either choose Web Search, Convert or anything else - it opens in Google search app instead of Soul browser which is my default browser. It should open as a new tab in Soul browser, not outside App. None the less Google search app hijack the request.

This is very annoying and frustrating and I can't find whether the problem is in Android, Google Search app or Soul browser.

Please advice.

I have also contacted developer of Soul browser.

Maybe I'm wrong, but isn't that the purpose of search to use the app rather than a browser?

Look for a Reset All App Preferences option (it's usually in the system settings, when you tap the 3-dot menu button at the upper right). After resetting the app preferences, try highlighting text and choosing one of those options again. What options does it give to complete the action? If Soul Browser doesn't show up, then it's not designed for that action. This would make sense to me, because Soul Browser isn't a search app in itself -- it's only a browser. You'd have to set an actual website within a browser as a default action, which I don't think is possible

On my Redmi Note 7 using Soul browser, if I did excactly the same thing it would open in a new tab in Soul browser, it still do this.
Redmi Note 7, Android 10 MIUI 12.5.2.
Also on my Redmi Note 8, Android 11 MIUI 12.5.3

So as I said this is a new problem, which came with my new phone Redmi Note 12 4G(no NFC), Android 13 MIUI 14

In settings search bar type reset app preferences or go to settings>apps>3 dots upper right corner tap reset app preferences

I have a Pixel 7 Pro. What I described is the standard location for Reset All App Preferences, but it can vary with the manufacturer. Try searching in the system settings as mustang7757 suggested.

I just installed kiwi browser just to try, and here web search opens in new tab just as it should, meaning its a bug in Soul browser.

Could someone else with android 13 with or without MIUI 14, please try Soul browser and confirm that this is indeed a bug?
