Problem with Keyboard

Hey guys, I finally received my HTC EVO 3D today but I noticed an issue with the stock keyboard when the keyboard is rotated (landscape mode). It happens every time, even after I set the calibration and reset it.

When the keyboard is rotated in one direction whenever I type the letter "e" it types an "r" instead. When I rotate the screen the other way, whenever I try to type a "." it's as if I pressed the space bar and a space appears.

I know I'm not pressing the wrong key and I actually have slender finger tips. I tested every single other key and they work fine. Not only that, but when I have it rotated one way, and let's say it's the side where the r key doesn't work, the . key does work and vice versa. When the keyboard is not rotated, and is in "portrait" mode, every key works as intended.

I have done all the updates for the phone. What should I do?

Maybe try and hard reset? Or take the battery out and restart the phone.

Re: Problem with Keyboard (HELP)

I just did a factory reset and also removed the battery and it still happens.

Well I just called Amazon Wireless and they're going to send me a replacement phone that I'll receive in a couple of days. I noticed as I was using it that there were several spots on the screen that didn't respond correctly. If I pay $200 on a state of the art phone, I expect it to be close to perfect in its most basic touch screen functions.

eh, a few bad ones slip by QC all the time. Its good amazon is helping you out on it.

Let us know how your next one is. Make sure to do a factory reset right after the updates before you set up the phone.=)

Rather than starting a new thread I thought I'd jump in here and ask: How do I close the keyboard??? I understand that in most cases, hitting enter or clicking off the text pane will close it automatically, but there are numerous times, way more than I enjoy, that I simply can not get it to close. Since it takes over half the screen, it may cover up the submit/okay button on the bottom of the app, and if all the visible areas is text panes, you can't click off it, and if the enter key just gives you a cariage return, you're stuck using the back key on the phone. I wish I could just down swipe the keyboard and have it go away.

Thanks for your wisdome, I'm guessing its just something an android (comming from Pre) newbie figures out over time.

On the stock keyboard, there's a black button on the bottom lefternmost corner. You can't miss it.
