Problem with marshmallow

How do you wipe the cache partition. I read where it helps with marshmallow install problems. I have had nothing but problems since it updated. Everything I turn my phone on I get "optimizing apps 1 of 1".then starting apps. I have no gesture support. My text messages only shows phone numbers no names. A full charge only lasts about 5 or 6 hours. And the phone is always very hot. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

What device are you using? I usually wipe the cache after updates or if the phone gets slow.. Let us know what you have and we'll tell you how to do it!

I have a lg g4. H810.

turn phone off
press on/off button and vol. down at same time
don't release either until menu appears
follow directions at top of screen

I have an g4. I have tried power and volume down and all it does is restart the phone. I can't get to any kind of menu.

Make sure phone is powered off, can press vol down prior to pressing power button (just tried - pressed vol down for 10 sec, then power - worked). Do not release either button until "system recovery" menu shows on screen - follow directions

I have tried both ways you said and all I get is a restart. Does the phone by any chance have to be unlocked?
