Problem with receiving new text messages

I am using Chomp SMS as a 3rd party app and I am not sure if this is a problem with the app itself or the phone. I usually never turn my phone off at all. I leave it on for weeks at a time without rebooting. After a couple of days, I will stop receiving text messages. I can send them fine, but receiving them is a problem. Once I realize this, I have to reset the phone and then I can start receiving them again.

What would be a solution to this problem?

I'd try a different messaging client like perhaps Go SMS Pro. Its free in the market.

Yes Go SMS is sweet. You can also try the stock messaging app and see if notifications are enabled in the messaging app.
