Problem with sending text: Phone not including area code with phone number

I am only having this problem with one phone number but it is driving me crazy. I have the person's number saved in my phone with the area code, but when I go to text them it lists their number at the top with no area code, then sends me a failed send and tells me to include the area code in the number. I have tried deleting their contact info all together and text history then adding them back with their number saved with parenthesis around the area code, but that didn't work. Any suggestions?

I'll give it a try, but just out of ignorance and curiosity, what does assisted dialing do?
