Problem with text and sms coming in as anonymous sometimes from known senders.

Has anyone been experiencing this same problem where you get texts from people sometimes you know but gets listed as anonymous and you cant respond? Sometimes I dont know who its from because it says anonymous and i cant respond. So frustrating! Im really getting sick of this phone and its quirks! Any help???

Can't say I've ever run into that problem. There are times when a text will take a whole day to be delivered, but that's the extent of my problems in that area.

Its certainly a weird issue. I failed to mention that ive been using gosms as well for messaging.

I've never had that problem on mine. Are you having the problem on the stock text app or just "gosms"? (I'm not sure what that is.) Are you using Google Voice?

Well I used gosms but the stock sms app is showing the user as being anonymous as well.

I've had this issue using Handcent as well.

It arrives with the stock avatar and shortly refreshes the avatar to one I chose for that persons icon, but will still fail to reply back because "no address or contact has been selected".

Rarely happens. I just exit the app and it works fine after that.

Are the contacts in question in Google contacts or Android contacts or both? Do the same people show up consistently anonymous? I'd guess it's a look-up problem. If the SMS comes through (and I have *no* idea how this stuff works) without a phone number (or corrupted) then it couldn't do a look-up to find the contact info. What version of Android are you on?

I dont know who the contact is or who the person is contacting me hence why it says anonymous. Sometimes in the middle of texting someone back and forth it will come back as a separate contact anonymous when it was the person i was just texting. It happens to different people and it seem random not particular to one. Latest version of android updated through kies

Hopefully you still receive notifications from this site considering this was years ago. I was wondering, did you ever figure out your issue with the sms? I was messaging my husband today then I get a separate thread with a message and I asked him what the last message was he had sent me was and it was exactly that. When I go to respond it says please select at least one contact. I'm confused by this. Would our phones be linked somehow thru some app and maybe thats how it happened?
