My wife got one yesterday, supposedly turned her iPhone 4s off. But when her son texts her from his iPhone it comes to her iPhone not the Note3. When I text her from my Galaxy Nexus it goes to her Note3. How does she fix that? It's a pretty nice phone. Thanks in advance for solutions. (and what does it mean when it says that I have 2,048 Global Posts? Not on this forum no way).

Have your son check where he has your wife mobile number in his contacts. If the mobile number is in the "iphone" field then the iPhone will send the text as an iMessage.

Have him mover her number to the Mobile field in the contact and see if that works.

I believe she has to go into her settings on the iPhone and turn off Imessage

That's what the Verizon dude said, thanks. She thought the iPhone was turned off but maybe Imessage works with WiFi. I think she turned that off and still got one.

This! It's something you often forget.. when that shiny new phone comes in and you just turn off the old iPhone and want to activate the Note 3 as fast as possible. Did that yesterday, then I realized I needed to boot my iphone and turn off imessage lol..

go to Apple’s My Support Profile page and delete your old device. Open your device’s page and Unregister the device. You can also reset the password of your Apple ID account from the web which should cause iMessage to log out on your old device, not allowing it to be used for your old phone number any more.

This is the solution that worked for me. I came from an iphone 5 and had the same issues. Also, some of my friends change my contact info from iPhone under the phone number field to android or just mobile and that seemed to work as well.
