problems after installing ics

If you flash it through recovery it will wipe the phone, yes back it up. If you are going to flash it go to the root thread and follow Mr Smith's instructions on flashing the RUU, it is very easy to follow.

Already backed up and I am running the update posted here. If that doesn't work I will try the RUU.

That seemed to do the trick. I have the phone app in its usual spot now. Just restoring all my apps and settings at this point. Thanks!

Web links in Messages are not selectable.
Only able to go to message options, view slideshow to use link.

Was this supposed to wipe my phone? I coulda missed a warning in a prompt, I was trigger happy.

I was excited for the update, but after the reboot, everything was GONE. I customize pretty heavily, so I have been getting things back for the past few hours.

Couple questions since I am a novice at this stuff....

Which back up app did you use and which update are you referring to?

If after backing up, can I just do a factory reset?

I just hooked my phone to my computer and copied everything over into folders I made on my desktop- one for sd card, one for the phone memory.

Then I used the zip from Piizzadude a few posts up, put the zip on my sd card root, booted into recovery and selected fast boot and it went from there.

You will be starting from scratch so if you are rooted, titanium backup is the way to go. I am not so I am now re-installing my apps from the play store (they are all saved there just not installed).

Anyone else lose copy and paste? I assume it should work like before, but when I long press on something I don't get the pop up box asking what I want to do to it.

Crap, sounds way more complicated than I am probably capable of in terms of putting the zip on the SD car and then booting into recovery and then fast boot.

Not sure if you saw over on XDA that one guy just backed up everything and did a fatory reset. I'm wondering if that would work as well.

I do have My Backup Pro and did a backup. Would that probably be sufficient?

yes as long as you backed up all that you wanted. I used to use that one and I am a serial flasher....

Well, I backed up everything on My Backup Pro and did a reset. Phone is resetting now.
I guess we'll see if it works in a bit. Stay turned.

Well, good news and bad news.

Good news, I now have the proper phone app on the launcher bar.

Bad news, My Backup Pro seems to have failed. It was supposed to back everything up and it appears to have not worked.

The only thing that really bothers me is the photos. But, I probably have 80 to 90% of them backed up on dropbox so I can get them there.

Now I just need to set everything back up. Gonna take a while but will be kindof fun.

Thanks for the help.

sorry for the loss. I have my dropbox set to upload every time I take a picture just for that reason

Yeah, it looks like I have pretty much everything in dropbox. Probably can recover 90% of the images. Heck, I needed to weed some out anyway.

Gotta admit, it's kindof like having a new phone to play with.

and that is why i am a flashaholic...i have a new phone weekly..

when AOKP is stable I think that is my end point

Just had some weirdness with WiFi...
could connect but only with the little dot at the base of the WiFi symbol (no radiating arcs), after a few seconds the connection would drop.
router working fine, verified with laptop.
turning WiFi on and off didn't help.
was about to reboot phone when I opted instead to check voicemail.
after checking voicemail, WiFi signal indicator shows full strength and no more connection issues.
anyone else?
