Searched and didn't find any thread addressing this and didn't want it to get lost/ buried in a more general thread for my specific problem.'

The update won't install. I keep getting an error message that includes some wording about a "vista pack" I believe, from memory.

I have a Windows 7 computer and a non rooted Hero. I do not want to root it.

Can anyone help me?

I tried installing the HTC Sync but that does not seem to play a role.

Thanks!

I installed from windows 7 pro.

1. Download the update from the sprint website or one of the mirrors.
2. Contrary to popular belief you don't need to worry about the htc sync as i didn't even have it installed.
3. Connect your Hero to the pc via USB
4. Dont mount anything, just charge.
5. Run the update file. (i kept mine on the desktop)

it should give you a few prompts, follow the instructions.
It may lag a it on the "NOW" screen, you'll know when you see it, its normal.

If this doesn't work, post a screen cap, and we'll see what we can do.

Cheers

Thanks for the reply

Issue RESOLVED

I ended up deleting the exe file and re-downloading it and then it worked

THanks !
