Problems, quirks, etc.

I figured it said that. That's why I specified I didn't. I'm just not sure if that would actually have an affect like this on the battery.

Does your charing light turn red to green? I am having bad battery and the light never turns green. Stays red even when the watch says 100%

It would. The watch needs to calibrate with the battery to give you accurate battery percentages. Charging to 100 percent helps that process. You should see perceived battery life grow over the next couple weeks, just like a cellphone. Basically the best an electronic device can do is guess at the true battery state of charge.
Appreciate the reply. Good to hear it should get better. Should I let it drain completely before giving it a full charge, or should I turn it off before it's completely dead?

Most manufacturers will leave a little reserve charge in lipos so you can't actually run them to zero and damage them. That being said, I wouldn't run them purposely below 20 percent if you can help it. Newer battery algorithms are usually good enough where you don't have to fully discharge a battery to establish an accurate baseline.

Thanks again for the info. Turning it off until I can get home to charge it. Better safe than sorry.

I'm also having battery issues. Got mine last night, messed around on it then turned it off. Threw it on the charger real quick this morning and got it up to 80%. Took it off the charger around 630 am. It's now 1 pm and I'm at 21%.

You guys getting good battery life, what are your settings? Display brightness, alway on turned on or off? Etc.
So far this battery life is terrible. Maybe if I give it a full charge it will perform better. (didn't fully charge it when I first got it)

So I've had mine since Friday night and battery life has been great so far. I took it off the charger at 5:40am this morning.

My experience with the Huawei watch and the Moto 360 2nd gen was that battery life would improve after a few days of use.

I played with the Frontier version this afternoon for a while at a BestBuy. I'm really liking this one! Is anyone using theirs with a Nexus phone? I've got a 6p but don't want to shell out that kind of dough for a watch that's only half usable because I don't have a Samsung device.

Thanks. I was hoping for more of a hands on breakdown. Saying compatibility is "limited" doesn't give me much to go on other than its, well, limited. But to what degree? Totally unusable or just not as good as it would be otherwise. It's also says Samsung Pay works with other phones but everything I've read from people who have "other phones" would say otherwise.

Where did that chart come from? I'm asking because I'd like to read the footnotes associated with the "limited" bullet points.

Example. I have a Windows Phone and a Band 2. I get all the features (keyboard, Cortana). My wife has an iPhone 5c and a Band 2. She doesn't get the keyboard or Cortana. She is limited in the features, since she isn't using a Windows Phone. I expect it to be this way with the Gear S3. That's part of the reason I'm switching to a GS7 this weekend. I wouldn't expect a V20 or Google Pixel to get the same features as a Samsung phone.

Seems like the battery has started acting better after I power cycled the device. It was from 100% to 64% from 6:30am-11:00am. I barely used it since I was in class the entire time. I power cycled it around 11:30am and right now at 7:16pm, it is at 41%. The drain is not as bad as before.

I'm at 87% after 10 hours. 3 partial charges so far. It takes a few partial cycles to improve the battery. I wouldn't look into battery life much at all until after a week or so.

I have a Nexus 6p. Other than android pay which i actually don't care much about everything has been more or less perfect. I have been using it since Saturday. I was actually expecting some incompatibilities but in my usage it has been outstanding. I'm even on the 7.1.1 Android N Dev Preview and no issues at all with any apps or connections.

I also don't really care about Samsung pay. Can you go into a bit more detail about the incompatibilities? What I'm really curious about is the email, text, call notifications. Really just the basics I guess.

I have the gear s3 with an LG v20 and I get any of the notification I choose on the gear app, I get email notifications, text messages, Facebook messenger, calls, Google weather notification it works awesome u don't use Samsung pay so that don't matter to me, but all the important notifications work good with my LG v20.

Just to update this. I let it fully charge last night. Took it off the charger just over 2 hours ago and am only down to 94%. So ~3%/hour. Much better than yesterday. Thanks again for the help.

Getting just about 3 days. I have brightness at 6 and always on turned off. Definitely seems to last longer than my s2.
