Problems receiving emails from 1 person

Hi all,

I have a small problem - not a huge deal, but a little annoying.

I use the stock samsung email - which I really like since I have many different email accounts to deal with.

My problem is that from 1 person I don't ever receive his emails BUT if someone else in the email replies to all then I see the original email. I thought perhaps that he had my email incorrectly but he did not, then I also thought that maybe he was in my spam but that wasn't true either. He is actually on my "priority senders" list.

I've deleted the email account and re-added as well as deleting him as a contact and re-adding him to my phone but these have not worked. I've also rebooted my phone and did the battery pull, deleting cache - still nada.

I'm not sure what else to try? I get emails from everyone else okay and haven't had problems in the 7+mos I've had the phone.

Another thing I should add is that I receive texts from him okay (I had thought maybe it's an issue since he has an iphone and I did have an iPhone previous to the note 3) but email seems to be the only problem.

I thought about asking him to remove me as a contact and re-add but he's not tech savvy at all so I will have to do it myself when I see him next, therefore in the meantime I'm asking you all for help :-)

Has anyone else had this issue or have an idea of a fix? I do not wish to switch to another email app as I'm perfectly happy with the samsung email app with the small exception of this issue.

It has just been a little annoying recently as he has been trying to arrange meetings via email - but unless someone else in the thread hits reply all - then I don't know about it!

Thank you in advance :-)

Sarks.

p.s I'm still on JB and I'm not rooted.

Still no answer.

I don't normally use that app.
It needs sync on, and pulls at set frequencies as far as I can see.

Someone should have had something similar, I would guess.
Android Central Lounge seems well read, and there have been email questions there.

Did you try putting all your accounts temporarily onto the Gmail or Yahoo app, also and see if it occurs there.

Why don't you try an app like k-9 so you can narrow down the problem. If they come through okay, then you know it's the Samsung app. If they don't, the problem is more than likely on his end.

Did u check your spam and other folders? Could be you have a filter set up that's rerouting his mail to another folder OR if you find his incoming email in your spam folder it could mean that something about his emails trigger it as spam and it goes to his spam folder.

I checked spam and his emails aren't there. I don't have any filters set up for anything so I'm sure that's not the problem. It's just frustrating when it's just one person! Especially when it's someone listed as a priority sender whom I really need to receive emails from.

Madd & Mike,

Good idea! I'm gonna try another mail app in the morning and then I'll ask him to email me. I have to call him tomorrow anyway.

That's why I like asking here (android central) because I always get really good suggestions and advice.

I'll let youse know how it goes :-)

Cheers!

Who is your email provider? If you check using WebMail (or outlook, or some desktop client) can you find his email?

Basically you should be trying to determine if this is really a Note issue, or a broader issue that you only recognize on the Note because that's your communications tool of choice.
