so i rooted this week and i've been having wierd 3g and cell radio issues and texting.

i've not deleted anything. i installed titanium and i've done a unrevoked back up, and all i did was freeze some apps. so everythings fine a few days, and the only way i can get my 3g to work is reboot and then it works a minute. so i recovered back to my first back up. everything is fine until today. i realize i'm not getting or sending pic messages, go back to back up again, and it works. but now im still getting the cell radio randomly turning off and the only way to get it back on is a reboot.

has anyone seen issues like this?

What do you mean "freeze some apps?"

Maybe your phone is having hardware issues. You could do a nandroid backup of your current setup, then revert back to stock 2.1, and upgrade to 2.2 (search the forums). See if the problems still exist. If they do, then your hardware could be having issues. If not, it could be a problem with your root, that maybe a hard reset could fix.

by freezing i mean i used titanium back up to 'freeze' apps to keep them from running instead of deleting them outright so in case something did start messing up.

and lets see. i've frozen:
amazon mp3
app sharing
city id
stocks
htc sense facebook
flickr
footprints
friendstream
email (i use k9)
messages (i use handcent)
my verizon mobile
news
peep
quickoffice
rss reader
skype
stocks
sync service
tts service
twitter
visual vm
voice dialer
vz navigator

oh a and message txts worked fine, but i couldnt' send or recieve picture ones until yesterday when i went back to my very first back up right after i rooted

Sounds like you may have frozen one thing you needed. Rooting a phone doesn't disable or change anything but your user level status on the phone. It doesn't effect apps etc. or at least how they run unless you change something. I would suggest trying to go through your apps / services you have disabled one at a time until it works again.

Losing 3G is not new since Froyo update

Several people have complained about losing their 3G signal and having to reboot in order to get it back. It happens to me also. I find that when I am in an area or building where I do not get any signal and then return to an area where I should have signal I do not get my 3G signal back but I can still make calls. I also have to reboot to get my 3G signal back. I have not heard of any reason or fix for this but there are people in the same boat.

well at least thats good to hear. it never happened to me until i rooted so i was just curious if some of it was related.

the pic txt thing still baffles me though since it didnt work again until i went to my back up.

Rooting does not mess with any functional aspect of the phone. It would be like saying you put yourself as admin in windows and because of it your video card doesn't work.

The 3G won't come back until you open an app that uses the mobile network. Then it will come back alive.

well thats the wierd thing. it doesnt come back. i open the market and says it cant be found, i launch facebook and it says no network. in network settings it wil just say connecting to mobile network, and most of the time clicking airplane on then off fixes it, but sometimes it just hangs at even trying to turn airplane mode on.
