Problems using apps after restoring SD backup

Here's what happened: I had to use my SD card for another purpose temporarily, so I copied all of my files from the SD card onto my computer via USB. After I was done, I transferred all the files back onto my SD card; everything I've read online so far says that that should have worked flawlessly, and I've done the same kind of thing successfully in the past when I got a new SD card. But now my phone won't start any apps that I had moved to my SD card.

They don't show up in the app menu, and when I go through Settings>Applications>Manage Applications, the apps in question only show up as "com.amazon.kindle," for example. The option to move the app is unavailable, only uninstall and clear data. Shortcuts to them on my home screen show the generic Android icon that shows up whenever the SD card isn't mounted, and return the error message "Application is not installed on your phone." I've formatted the SD card and repeated the transfer back to the SD card, but it didn't help. I'm able to see the data with a file browser, and I can even play music that's on the card, but I cannot run any of the apps there.

Any ideas as to what I did wrong, and if there's anything I can do to fix it? My only guess is that maybe I missed a hidden directory file or something in my initial backup. I'm using a stock Optimus V, not rooted or anything.

Hi higdona,

I'm having the exact same problem. Did you ever figure this out?

thanks,

I ended up re-installing the apps through Google Play and they worked fine, all of the accounts and settings were still there. I still have no idea why it didn't work right.
