Problems with booting to recovery

i press vol down home and power like the instructions say and all i get is a black lit up screen. i tried using command prompt to boot to recovery and it stays stuck on the lg bootscreen as does ROMtools reboot into recovery. whats my problem? thanks in advance for any help

Are you plugged in when trying to goto recovery that usually is the problem. If not try pulling the battery pop it back and use the power down and home button. Last I would reflash the recovery.
