Hello all,
I'm running a completely stock (no root) Epic 4G. Since the most recent update (EL30), I've been having intermittent, but frequent, problems with audio on the car dock. Specifically, over the past week or so since I installed the update, instead of getting real audio output when the phone is docked, I'm getting just some quiet hissing with the occasional quiet pop and crackle.
The sound output mode appears to be switching fine since sound stops coming from the phone's built-in speaker as soon as the phone is docked (and the hissing and popping comes through the dock output), and sound resumes from the rear speaker when its disconnected again. I am using Galaxy Dock Sound Redirector to redirect sound from the rear speaker through the USB port, but I also tried a similar app from XDA and saw the same behavior. Occasionally, it will work properly, but most of the time I get no real sound (other than the hissing & popping). I haven't found a pattern as to when it works and when it doesn't, with one major exception - it always works fine immediately after a reboot. Based on that, and the fact that it started after the update, I'm assuming it's a software issue, but I can't track it down.
Last night while it wasn't working, I went through all of the running processes and shut them down one by one to see if one of them was causing a conflict or other problem. But, none of them made a difference when shut down.
I haven't seen any other posts about this, so I'm wondering if anyone else has seen this problem since the update. And, I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas as to what I could try next. I appreciate your help!!
