Surprised there is not more discussion on this phone. I need a new phone and was ready to pull the trigger on this one until I saw numerous reviews on Amazon about faulty USB port which leads to charging problems after a few months (and also numerous reports of poor customer service). Has anyone experienced this?

So frustrating when you think you finally decided on a phone and then hear about problems. Not sure what I'd do instead, maybe a Moto X4. Moto G7 Plus looks good but no US warranty support makes me nervous. Coming from a Moto G5 Plus which unfortunately went swimming with me last week.

From the price range and manufacturer you're looking at, take a look at my Z2 Force. I haven't torn the shrink wrap yet.

I've had my 7.1 for six months now and have not experienced any problems with sluggishness or the USB port. Pie dropped in after 2 months but I didn't notice any difference with speed between that and Oreo. It's quite usual for people to post about the bad experiences while thousands who don't have issues keep quiet. I have had a problem with the FP scanner since Pie dropped but I'm hoping a system update will sort it cause it was fine on Oreo. Go ahead and pull the trigger, you won't regret it.

So far my N7.1 USB port has held up going on 6 months. My wife's N6.1 port flaked out after a few months, but that may have been water damage. USB-C seems to be fragile. I would still be using my OnePlus 3 if the USB-C port didn't go out (after 2 years). I have heard of Pixels having problems too (but people complain about everything except the camera on Pixels). So OEMs, please bring back micro-usb phones -- so declares this guy on the internet.

Absolutely agree on your last point Ben. USB - C don't seem much faster to me and the old micro USB was really solid. Plus the fact that I've now got so many redundant cables.

Had mine since day 1. No port issues, no fingerprint issues, no sluggishness. I love the phone.

My FP scanner is now working fine. Don't know whether it was an update or the fact that I knocked the phone off the arm of the settee onto the carpeted floor.

Like you, I've pretty much had my 7.1 from day one and, apart from the above, I can't fault it.
