Problems with loading & refreshing

I'm not sure why but some of my apps aren't loading or refreshing properly. It's very frustrating but pulse and Facebook I can try refreshing a million times and it won't work unless I kill the app and restart each time.

This is driving me crazy please help. Why do I need to keep killing apps like pulse and Facebook just to get the latest updates.
