Problems with my sd card

I have a 16gig samsung sd card that was working fine until a little while ago. All I did was install adw ex and adwnotifier, set some options and rebooted. Now my phone is saying my card is damage and I should format. I dont want to format because I have some stuff thats not backed up. Also when I went to recovery and try to flash a custom rom I get this error cant mount dev block mmcblk0p1.

Can some help. I'm rooted and running thunder rom 1.4

Can you remove the card and open it on a pc via card reader? Of so, back it up there and let it reformat.

I had no choice. I had to format it from a pc card reader because it wouldnt format on the phone.
