Problems with no master sync function on my Galaxy S5 Neo

I have lost the master sync function on my S5. When I pull down the quick settings from the top of the screen the settings wheel & 'V' icon to expand the menu are disabled. Similarly the 'window' button bottom left on my phone is also kaput.
If I go into settings via the main settings app & go to accounts, the e mail account states master sync disabled.
Any ideas anyone please?

Yes safe mode makes no difference. Any ideas please?

If you go to Settings>Accounts, is there an option there for Master Sync? Sorry, I'm not directly familiar with the S5 Neo's menu structure.

When you say the "window" button on the bottom left isn't working, do you mean the Recent Apps capacitative button to the left of the Home button? If that's not working in Safe Mode, then I'd be concerned about a hardware problem.
