Has anyone else noticed on their HTC one, files being created by Google translate, the files are txt and contain some pretty hardcore profanities and racial remarks, I was astonished this could happen! I only used it for some basic French translation to test the programme.I have Since deleted Google translate and the files have gone, I couldn't remove them by clearing cache or data from either app, and they couldn't be found with x plore..

Re: Polaris office

And the Polaris Office thread title has what to do with it...?

Re: Polaris office

Fair comment albeit I can't edit the title, however it doesn't deride from the issue at hand.

Re: Polaris office

Where would one look for such files?

Re: Polaris office

They were just in the Polaris app along with my excel files I have saved you certainly didn't have to look for them.

Gotta say, I didn't believe the op, but I checked and sure enough there are some files containing various words, in

/storage/emulated/0/Android/data/com.google.apps.translate/files/ol/v3r1/c_p

They're not all profanities, and I do recognize some, but only some, of the words that I did try to translate. The rest seem to be pre cached translations of some sorts?

Interesting discovery..

Words people commonly try to translate possibly. It's good to know how to cuss in other languages.

This is indeed odd. I found all manner of things, including non-American names, a series of "[Random Mideast Nation] defeats Israel" strings, and a few others weird bits. I wonder how they end up here?

Web browser's Google translation of web pages might use this on the phone together with the Google Translate app on the phone ... but just a guess. Thick fingers on small phone's web browser do a lot of things unintentionally ;)

At least I know I wasn't imagining it! Very strange, definitely not fat finger syndrome... Phones only a week old I certainly haven't been searching for anything along the lines of boobs massage or children die, it's totally unacceptable this can happen.

Yeah, it's not fat-finger syndrome this time. It looks more like something got left in a build before its was rolled into distribution. Weird, though, no matter what.
