Project Fi

Remember Fi also gives you data SIM cards for free that can share the data. I have a data only SIM in my Audi and it works fantastic and best of all --> Its free! Just shares the data with my Pixel 2.. Other carriers charge $20 a month to add a device so that's a Fi bonus as well...

The new plan does not really effect me as I've never gone over 3GB in a month never mind the 6GB threshold but it's still a welcomed change.

My usage so far this month:

It's data only though? I mean if I used it in my LG Watch Sport I wouldn't be able to make a phone call, right? What about SMS?

Been following this thread very interesting but I'm getting unlimited everything on Cricket for $55 a month after $5 auto pay deduction

Yes it is a data only SIM card. No difference than other carriers in how a data only SIM functions but Fi does not charge a monthly add on fee like other carriers do.

If you want phone functionality then you'd need to add a line, like with other carriers.

Data only SIMS are generally used in computers that have LTE, tablets, connected cars ect..

However with Fi you can put it in a phone and use the data to make hangout calls and send messages so it can act as a hampered phone in that regard.

well I am on Fi now. Need to figure out how to get internet at my river house in Deltaville so that I can bring my wife over to Fi and cancel the LTE router we have from Verizon and finally be done with big red

Do not worry! Any kind of online review forum - be it of venues, restaurants, products, etc - will inevitably attract people who are more likely to post complaints than they are to post praise reports/positive reviews. It seems like when users are satisfied with their product/stay/service, etc; they may be less likely to post. However, when some are angry, they want others to know about it - so they post.

I wouldn't worry too much about this - I've heard good things about Fi and it wouldn't be this big of an option for payment if it was as terrible as the reviewers claim it to be.

Like you said, there will always be someone, somewhere who has a bad experience with a company; so try not to be concerned! Plus (and this is only my opinion), I feel that Facebook can be a really negative place. People want to post hurtful things, hoping to cause damage to the company or to sway potential clients elsewhere. If anything, I'd take those Facebook reviews with a grain of salt. Sure, not all negative reviews are unwarranted; but I think negative reviews unnecessarily skew the perceived number of happy vs negative customers in real life.

No anger here. I wish it had been able to work for me. It just wasn't solid enough compared to VZW in my area. I would have no problem trying again if anything changes.

Been up and running on Pixel 2 XL and Fi for two days now. No real issues ... just discovering a few annoyances (all of which are probably well known, but new to me).

What's with the obnoxious tone/beep when you disconnect a phone call? Also, trying to get the hang of using GMail (believe it or not I've never used it). Is it me, or is GMail unnecessarily-complicated?

Agreed on all points. I appreciate your response :)

It's something like 1 to 10 whereas 1 person will feel the need to go share their positive experience with a business, 10 will feel the need to share their negative experience.

Have you tried "Inbox" by Google, you might have a better experience.

I have not ... but that sounds like a great idea - thank you! I'd LOVE to embrace Gmail ... but they don't make it easy.

Does Inbox seem to be a little more user friendly?

Was also thinking about trying Outlook .... not sure if that's any better

I'm avoiding Outlook simply because your credentials get cached to their server so that push notifications work. Yeah... It's actually caused at least one major corporation to block the app on managed mobile devices. I'm not sure if anything has changed in the last 3 years but here is the article where it was brought to light - https://blog.winkelmeyer.com/2015/0...ook-app-for-ios-breaks-your-company-security/

Yikes, that's unsettling. My employer uses Outlook ... we're all on it at work ... but I've never used it for personal email.

Don't get me wrong, the Outlook desktop app is used without question, it's only the mobile app on iOS and Android despite constant user demands to allow it.

I think I am going to stick with the Ting service I am currently using. Only $6 a month if you don't use anything, which I rarely do. I just want it for emergencies, or if my phone dies or something.
