Protect your account from hackers! (T-Mobile)

From Reddit, TMO's suggested solution--Port Validation (funny how they can make Binge On opt-out but this is opt-in) seems to be a fail. Either reps don't know what it is/how to correctly add it, or can bypass it rather easily.

My carrier's no longer T-Mobile, but I was able to change my bank's 2FA from text to email address (which is harder to access.) I recommend everyone do this, especially TMO customers.

All of my accounts associated with banking or credit cards have 2FA. I use a landline, so the crooks have be be in my house or somehow gain access. I also have credit monitoring for another 2 yrs. When it expires I will place a credit freeze on our accounts at all credit monitoring cos.

From what I understand is happening here, scammers are gaining access to bank accounts and emptying them out, often by clearXchange transfers, which are not that easy for the transferring account's owner to reverse. I doubt credit monitoring would help if this is the case.

That is probably true for most people, but probably not for me personally. We bank at a small credit union & they can be very strict. On debit cards, you can set a monthly limit; wire transfers need prior approval plus they have other safeguards. I know my id (personal info including ssn) is out there because many yrs. ago I had a top secret security clearance & OPM sent a letter to me & my wife telling us that our info HAD (not maybe) been stolen. So far nothing.

Yeah it is mainly people getting access to accounts / numbers and resetting passwords for banks.
