Proton VPN & whatsapp

Does anyone know if there is an issue with Proton and Whatsapp? I have been using it today for the first time and had no issues, but when I turned it off, a bunch of Messages came through.

What VPN works well with whatsapp? Because Proton works well with Signal.

Haven't used Proton in a while, but Whatsapp (both on phone and web) seem to work OK with NordVPN.

I'm trying to troubleshoot for a friend, and they like Proton, so I am wondering if it's because she is in Canada?

I doubt it's because they are in Canada, probably more to do with default settings they implement while installing the VPN.

I gotcha. it's frustrating because it's a good VPN. I reached out to them on Twitter and they said they had no issues at all.
