Purchasing a Pixel

So I'm a T-Mobile user with an itch that can only be satisfied by a pixel... I looked into purchasing it outright from Google and taking it in for that debate, but I refuse to switch to the T-Mobile One plan so that's out of the question. Considering that for black Friday, pixels will be $400 off at Verizon, I think I may try purchasing through them. However, can I still use that phone on T-Mobile? Do I need a plan to use it?

You can buy it from them, but you will have to buy it for full price in store, since they don't ship unless to their customers. Issue is going to be stock, not sure if you can go in store on Black Friday and buy if they don't have it, which they probably don't. It will work fine with T-Moblie though.

Hell yes. That's probably what I'm going to try and do then. I seriously want the pixel. I've been using a Nexus 6p I got my hands on and love the stock Android but hate the size. Way too big for my tastes say sadly.

You'll need a VZW account to purchase from VZW. You cannot leave the store with a phone, regardless of whether you paid full price or not, without a VZW account. Also, if you are already a T-Mobile subscriber the Pixel promo doesn't require you to change to the One plan. Simple choice customers can get the promo as well. With that being said, your best bet is to scour the second hand sites for a Pixel. The prices are coming down, and you can ask the seller for their original receipt to submit to T-Mobile. Swappa has a ton of Pixels listed, both Google and Verizon versions, both of which work fine on T-Mobile.

I am in the same boat. I am a T-Mobile user and I am not switch to T-Mobile one plan either. In fact I am also not going to add a line either. I ended up buying the phone from the Google website. That way I can still finance the phone. I know I am paying full price but all the deals required activation.

Im with you. People that fall for the "buy 1 get 1 free", or "$400.00 off" . Its BS. Sure if you figure it out at the end of the deal, you will save. But I've always said, if you're offering a buy 1,get1, take the full price of the phone off at purchase, not over 2 years. Thats a real BOGO. I bought my pixel from Google directly.

I think that $400 discount only applies after 24 months of being on the monthly payment with Verizon. I don't think they are just selling it nearly half off outright.

You are correct. The $400 is taken off in monthly bill credits for 24 months, similar to how T-Mobile is doing it through their Pixel promotion.

I can confirm all features (VoLTE, wifi calling, band 12, etc.) all work with the Pixel on the T-Mobile network.

Are you on one of the other Simple Choice Unlimited plans? T-Mobile opened the Pixel program to people other unlimited plans then just the One.

For the T-Mobile rebate offer you DON'T need to switch to the T-Mobile One plan anymore, you can get the Monthly discounts (that's how the rebate is applied) with your current plan, they quickly changed the rules for that.

This is correct. They changed their tune (most likely from people being angry) and now anyone on T-Mobile (postpaid) can take advantage of this promo while they offer it.

That "$400 off" that VZW is offering comes off over a 24 month period in the form of ~$17 off your bill per month. Do not fall for that marketing crap. In your case I would recommend getting the phone directly from Google and going through the T-Mobile rebate. The ONLY reason I got my Pixel XL from VZW is because I am a VZW customer and realized there was no carrier bloatware. Just a locked bootloader but I do not care because I will trade it in next year.

That is how pretty much all discounts are going -- because people took advantage and would get discounts and leave too early. All discounts lately from carriers are bill credits to help lock you in.

I chatted with a rep and he said to ignore what was posted and just go in and apply for the rebate and it would work with my legacy plan.


Sure enough, worked without a hitch on my main phone, on my second line I had to jump through a few hoops, but it worked as well
