Purple splotches on screen

Just noticed the other day there are purple splotches in the upper left corner of the screen. There isn't any damage and I haven't dropped the phone or sat on it.

It's almost like the lcd is bleeding through. The pixels aren't dead either since I can still see stuff through the purple. It is also slowly spreading.

Has anyone experienced this? I already contacted Samsung and they said to send it in but didn't explain if it's a warranty issue or not. The phone is only 2 months old and has been in a case so it isn't damage or anything like that. I'm worried the screen is failing.

Going to have to send that in to Sammy to be fixed for sure. Only they can determine warranty coverage.

Thanks. Already have the shipping label. Just curious if anyone had this happen to them before and what Samsung said about it.

Update: Samsung repaired it and I'm getting my phone back hopefully today or tomorrow. They haven't reached out to ask for payment or anything so I am assuming it was repaired under warranty.

T-mobile wasn't able to process the warranty. I had to go through Samsung's website to request service and check updates (I guess I had registered my very first smartphone, the Omnia with WinMo6.1, and it was displayed on the page with my Note 5 lol). It was all very automated. In fact I only received email updates when they received the Note 5 and when they sent it back to me. I could check the update of the repair through their website and it had notes from techs about when it was repaired and what was replaced. There was a phone number I could have called if I wanted to.

All around not a terrible experience, unless I get a bill in the mail or something crazy in a few weeks. Not sure how it could of been improved. It was nice being able to do all of it online and not having to call an 800 number but it would have been cool if they had a retail store I could bring it to to ask about warranty before I sent it away.

How long did the entire repair process take? How long were you without your phone?

It took a little over 1 week. I had a Nexus 5 and a nano-to-micro SIM card adapter and used that for a bit.

My wife recently repaired a phone through insurance and they sent a replacement before she had to send in the damaged phone. But if you don't have insurance and have to send it in for repair like I did you'll be without your phone for 1 to 2 weeks depending on the turnaround at Samsung. Good luck!

Hi. I know this post is old but I want to try anyway. Did Samsung ask for payment after fixing your phone? Was it covered in the warranty? I would appreciate a reply as soon as possible. Thanks

At the time my note 5 was only a few weeks old and definitely still in the warranty period. I was not billed and they provided free next day shipping.

If your phone is out of warranty I believe that they would tell you before asking you to ship it to them. But their price to repair will probably be more than using a screen replacement service.

Good luck
