Question about call logging?

When I view my call logging it shows me each an every call in our out of my phone. Is there a way to change the settings to only show the contacts you've called or recieved calls from? Then you can select the contact and see calls in and out.

So just the distinct list of contacts that have called you instead of the history of phone calls? I don't think you can but you can mark contacts as "favorites" which would show up separately in the Favorites tab. That might meet your needs.
