Question About Calling A Contact (S7)

I've searched but no luck. I just got a Galaxy S7 (Oreo) after my old trusty S4 finally died. When selecting a contact to call I always get another small popup showing "Call Message Details". Is there a way to disable this so when I select a contact to call it goes to the dialer screen and calls the contact? Thank you.

Welcome to Android Central! Are you talking about the Contact widget? If so, then use the Direct Dial widget instead -- that's a one-touch calling widget.

Ah, ok. Got it. Thank you. Is there a way to have the contacts book/screen open to "Contacts" tab instead of "Recents" when I click on the main Contacts icon in the Home screen?

That must be peculiar to Samsung -- on my Pixel 3 XL, the Contacts app is separate from the Phone app, and opens to my main contacts list. Or are you talking about the Phone app?

I guess it'd be the Contacts app. When I open the contacts screen it usually, but not always for some reason, shows the Recents tab. I can see how this would be useful if I only called a few people but with work I call a lot of different people.
