Question about CWM

I am running the Community ROM (KangBang) 1.1 (voodoo)
I flashed this over Superclean 2.9.2nv with EC01.
When I boot into Recovery, all of the letters are red, and it says:
"CwM Voodoo Lagfix Recovery v2.5.1.x" at the top.

I keep hearing about a "new version" of CwM Recovery. Does 3.0 sound familiar?
Am I supposed to be running CwM 3.0 while on KangBang v1.1?
If so, can anyone tell me how to get it and flash it? Please let me know if this requires any wiping or anything like that.

I mean, KangBang is working amazingly right now, and I'm SO glad I converted to Voodoo. All of those Devs did an AMAZING job on this ROM. The best one I've seen yet.

I just want to know if not having 3.0 will mess up anything.

PLUS, how the HECK do you use Volatge control???

From what I have learned (very recently), most developers will be going to CwM 3.0 as it uses the same scripting language as the rest of the Android community. Also there a supposedly quite a few things that are broken in 2.5.x. I switched over today with no problems.

You can flash CwM3.0 via your current 2.5.x or via ODIN.

Sweet! But.. Where would I get it? And would I flash the new CwM it the way I flash themes (choose zip from sd card, select yes)?

I don't think you want it just yet. While the Community ROM is compatible with CWM 3.0.x, not much else is at this point. You'll run into mostly problems trying flash in 3.0.x right now. Just wait, and when further development is done, I'm sure the links for CWM 3.0.x will show up. For now, stay with what you have.

Just wait, and when further development is done, I'm sure the links for CWM 3.0.x will show up. For now, stay with what you have.

Pretty much anything coming down the pipe will probably be 3.0.x compatible is my understanding. I can't really think of anything I would want to flash right now that isn't and would work with KangBang.

It will handle the edify install script.. That version of CWM is not fully functional and does not mount memory properly causing major Force Close issues when restoring backups that are themed and not themed. There are copies of CWM 3-30 that resolve some of that problem. There are other issues with the way the current CWM mounts memory and installs files.

That is one of the major reasons for the move to CWM 3.x.. if you are not ready do not make the move. It will be very frustrating trying to install a zip file that is not edify when you are using 3.x..

On the other side of the equation is that almost all devs and mods are making there files edify ready.. The ROMS were the last to get the treatment..

With the Community ROM being edify capable it will prompt the rest of us to start the switch over.. I started rolling the boot animations over this morning.

I think that if people have the Community ROM there's really no benefit to sticking with 2.5 unless they're planning on flashing backwards. It would seem to me any new themes or future ROMS/kernels that come out will all be 3.0 compatible.

Well I already flashed the 3.0, and I'm not really planning on flashing backwards. I'm planning on sticking with KangBang and whatever patches they come out with.

I have not seen any issues reported with a themed backup being restored.. If you choose to try please let us know so I can report it to the developer...
