Question about Google Maps 3D

Had the Xoom for a while and for some reason, pulled out the box to check on some numbers and noticed it has featured on the back 3D Google Maps. Thought that would be a cool idea since I use maps a lot. After researching, it appears it is only good for my HTC Incredible phone with 2.2 on it.

Anyone using 3D maps on the Xoom? What kind of results? Interesting they would feature it on the Xoom box if it is not optimized for 3.0.

It supports 3D maps... where 3D maps are supported. For example, if you go to the Colosseum in Rome, you can see it in 3D.

Also, Google Earth now has 3D textured buildings. You can get some mad slowdown in places like Manhattan though.

I've used it in Seattle, its awesome. Although the space needle in just a column. But when I go back up to Everett, Wa. it doesn't do it, because no one has 3d mapped it. Or will, most likely.

It seems only major cities and places of interest have the 3D map feature. My neighborhood doesn't get 3D maps but the nearest major city (Los Angeles) has the 3D option when I pull the map down.

Thanks for all your input. I haven't quite been able to figure out how to get it to work. Even the cities that are supposed to have 3d don't seem to be working. Will continue to play to see what I can get which is half the fun!

To get the 3D angles, use two fingers and swipe downward.

That's because there is no life in Everett to speak of or map...
