Question about Google Messenger

I like the app, and it works very fluidly (especially compared to the LG Messaging app). However, it appears that texts sometimes show up in the wrong conversation thread. Is there a remedy for this? I worry that one day, this could lead to mistaken communications.

Can you describe your issue a little more? I've been using Messenger for quite a while and I've never had texts come in to a different thread so far.

Are you maybe replying to group texts? Those might get mixed up if some reply as MMS and some others as just text.

It seems to be primarily SMS convos, but one group text sent by a friend was deposited into a totally different thread.

Here's an example. Text alerts from VzW and my local NBC affiliate being spliced together.

Are they all coming from the same number?

No, they are not. The numbers are varied. Also, I've found that when I try to message someone from Contacts, it brings up the wrong contact in the thread. This is very peculiar.

mmm... that is strange. Maybe a bug specific to the G4? The time I had it I only used the stock messaging app. Can you try out other SMS apps like Hangouts? I'm curious to know if this is specific to Google Messenger or to any 3rd party SMS app.

On the Note 5 and S7 Edge Messenger has been working OK for me. T-Mobile.

I'll try it out. But I can no longer bear the stock messenger that LG provides, nor Verizon's.

Clear the cache of the messenger app and see if that fixes the problem.

Just tried that. Still having the issue. Here's a USPS update spliced in with a friend from NJ's old number. This is highly bizarre. Would reinstalling it make a difference? Any other suggestions?

Just curious... if you revert to the stock messaging app, are those conversations still mixed? Or do they show up fine in there? Clearing Data/ReInstalling can´t hurt...

Okay, I reverted back to the LG app, uninstalled GM, cleared the system wide and application caches. Reinstalled GM, things are sorted out, finally.

Thank you for the advice, everyone. For some reason, the system just seems to be overwhelmed when I restore my old messages.
