I installed it and i cant seem to make any calls or texts with it - is it because of the phone or the update or something else? I recall reading something that GV cant make outbound calls anymore but no texting either? I am using pinger now but would love to use GV...

Are you using the Google voice app or a 3rd party app that logs you into your Google voice account?

Sent from my Nexus 10 using AC Forums mobile app

I'm still using Google Voice for incoming and outgoing calls. What ended is their support of a certain standard protocol that allowed 3rd party developers to use GV for their apps/devices. If you're using the official app, it should work fine.

After I install google voice and run it i select my google account then it takes me to the "making calls with google voice" I only see 3 options - only use google voice for international calls, do not use google voice to make any calls and ask everytime i make an international call.... I see my balance is 0 and when i finish setting up and go to "making calls" setting still same 3 options. I dont see anywhere at least apparent where i can even make a call....

Odd - I have 4 options, and have it set to "Use Google Voice to make all calls". Maybe try uninstall/reinstall?

*edit* just to make extra sure - this is a Droid Maxx on Verizon?

You don't make calls from within the GV app. It's not VoIP. It uses regular cell phone. Just go to your normal dialer and make a call. If you selected make all calls through Google voice the phone won't really dial the number your calling, it will disk this 20 digit number that routes the call through Google instead of the phone company. You'll still use cellular minutes, but the number shown the people you're calling is your GV number, not your cell number.

Just wanted to be sure there wasn't some confusion of either someone posting in the wrong forum area, or using the phone on another network (yes, it's exclusive to Verizon, but folks have gotten it to work on other networks.) I'm not sure why it wouldn't be showing you the 4th option, sorry. As for the battery life, have you posted up about that on here? You should have no trouble getting though a day under most use cases. I have had days where I've used it heavily and been in low coverage areas, which drains the battery quickly, but it still had about 15% left at the end of the long day. I doubt another phone would do any better. I suspect the battery issue is something about your specific situation/usage, or an app that's running in the background constantly, draining the battery.
