I'm told that once you are basically done with your high school classes in New York, there's something called "Regents" that you go through to finish your qualifications or whatever. Not really sure what that's all about; I've never lived in New York.

Anyhow, so my question is: if you decide to go to a college in New York, and you're not from New York so therefore clearly you've never been exposed to this Regents thing, what happens? I'm just sort of curious how this works.

Thanks!

Well, when I was in HS in NYC (oh.. like in the late 80s.. *cough*), you need to pass the Regents every year. They have various math (the Sequential Series), science, and history regents exams. If you don't pass the regents, you get left back. If you do exceptionally well with the Regents, you can get a Regents scholarship to be used for college. Not sure if the scholarship is still around?

The Regents shouldn't matter if you are attending a college in NYC coming from another state. It is a scholarship program for the NYC high school students.

Hope this helps? :) And if anyone here is a recent grad, perhaps you can pitch in, since my info may be really outdated by now?
