Question about Oreo.

I just bought a new LG G7 - an upgrade from my 1 and a half year old S7E.

The S7E is now in the drawer, I am going to use it as a backup phone. Right now, there is no sim card in it.

My question is, will the phone still get Oreo if there is no SIM card in it? The phone was bought sim free from Carphone Warehouse and can be perfectly used without any simcards (not locked to any carriers).

So, what do you think?

Of course, I am simply asking if Oreo will be available for ETA download, or that requires my simcard to be on and the phone to be connected to my carrier (Vodafone UK).
