non of that stuff matters for this to check your HBoot turn off your phone and hold down the down volume then press and hold the power button once you do this you will get this screen that gives you some opions but it also had info at the top there you will see which HBoot you have if you have the 1.49 which is the tricky one its the one that they just came up with a way to root but its tricky i have tried it and still nothing but if you have a earlier one then the 1.49 then your in luck :)

What do you mean by normal? I recently rooted and what I found is the user interface will be different and pre loaded apps will depend on what ROM you use.

I found CyanLightBolt to not have the apps I wanted and didn't know how to initiaite the market so I just use Evil Eris 3.0 for now until I have time to try other Roms. Its the most like the default Eris interface that I know of.

I used Applist so I coudl see what apps I needed to re-download. However I read that Astro can back up your apps to the SD card. Too bad I didn't know that before I rooted.

I ment when checking the boot loader :P When I go check it then restart will it just start up normal or will it go back to the HBOOT?

Once your at the Hboot sceen, i push volume down for recovery and than I choose restart using the trackball to scroll if needed and to accept.

and then it will just start up like it normally does?

Also has rooting an eris been prone to slowing it down? I want to root it for more customizing(like unlock screen I hate the swipe) but my bros omnia 1 is crap cause he rooted it and I have this phone till 9/26/11 and dont want to have it be crap for the next year.

Yes, mine restarts like it normally will after I reboot. I have not had enough experience to answer the slowing down thing. Before root my phone would lag still somtimes and I haven't noticed a difference either way yet. You can overclock and that well help I bet, but it also may depend on the ROM you use.

There is also an un-root process I beleive as well. I probably should of looked that up before I rooted to make sure tho. :D

Lol well recovery wasnt right for me but I got to the hboot, went to recovery then it started and showed pic of my phone and triangle with exclamation mark in it so just pulled battery and viola. ty for the help :) do you know if (this is dumb question) if root my eris and lets say it bricks during root I can get replacement without verizon knowing its rooted?

heh, i guess i got the recovery option since i Rooted. That is part of the process. Not sure on Verizon taking it back if you brick it while rooting tho.
