Question about vibration notifications

Is there a way to customize the vibrations native to Sense 5.5, or do I need a third party app?

I notice in vibrate only that different types of notifications have different vibrate patterns, but I don't know if they're tied to the audible notification or by notification type (email, text, or general?).

It would be nice in the winter when walking outside to be able to tell what the notification is without having to pull the phone out of my pocket. Usually a winter coat or just outside noise drowns out the audible notification.

As far as I know you can't set different patterns buy I would bet there's some app that can do it, ala Led Flow or Led Blinker that control the notification light. Do a search and see what you can find.
