Question before buying Asus ZenWatch

I am thinking of buying Asus's ZenWatch had two questions for people who already bought it?:

1. How is the battery life?

2. I already have LG G Watch. Watch has touch to wake up feature (this feature is very useful for me when the watch is totally blank not in DIM mode i.e I don't enable Always ON screen feature to save some battery). Is there a same feature in this watch, can I touch to wake the phone rather than pressing the button to wake it up?

It would be great if somebody could answer my question.

Thanks!

Not sure battery life is very different for any of these watches. Recharge every night (good news is that I think I can get a full charge in 2 hrs max). Today I left my house 6am and now at 6 pm I am at 33% with face off during the day. Interestingly not too different from yesterday when I left a stock face on all day. Light to light /moderate usage both days. Estimate is I will run out at midnight (total of 18 hours). Although last night I had about the same and with after work usage a bit heavier ran out 9 pm.

Heavier usage gives me about 12 hours (?).

And yes you can leave the face off and touch to turn on.

I leave vibrations on eventhough that takes battery. Screen is at dim of 1 (lowest).. Although with wear Mini launcher, I think I can set it custom lower than asus presets.

I like the amoled display on the belief that it is as easy on the battery as possible (especially until asus makes the charging cradle available for purchase separately so I can have one at work). Display definitely harder to read outside although I haven't spent enough time outside to know how much harder and can I find the sunlight option the sun.

Very happy with the design.. Extremely comfortable, fits under a long sleeve shirt (button down), usability good.

I am using a stock face that I believe is especially easy on battery but also looks nice imo.

It has locked up a few times but a reboot fixes that. Software still immature (including wear itself).

I will say that I hope asus implements a simple lock screen (swipe) as when I cross my arms, my arm will sometimes be interpreted as a screen touch (even through my long sleeve). That may be different than your current bezel watch.

Heart rate monitor inaccurate to the point that I can't use it.

YMMV!

My ZenWatch could last three days since it uses about 30% per day, but I recharge it every other day since I don't like chancing a dead battery on any device. In order to get that endurance, I turned off the "Always on" feature, dialed the intensity down, and disabled notifications I don't care to get on my watch. I also keep the watch and my phone in close proximity about 99% of the time so neither wastes energy trying to reconnect. I do leave vibrate enabled.

So my ZenWatch today only used 55% of battery over 13 hrs (estimated 24 hours total usage before battery gone) with watch face on all day, heavier usage, and a non stock watch face that is more intensive (insta weather for Android, a great face set).. More pixels awake and ambient and more cpu. Go figure... But I'm happy about it. Hth

I recharge and restart every night (same as my phone), but the watch is rarely below 50% when I put it on the charger before I go to bed. The only time this wasn't the case was when I set alarms on the phone. That had the battery down to 14% by 3 pm, even though it was only 2 alarms per day.

Thanks a lot guys. This info is really useful. I will go ahead buy the watch. Surprisingly there is no option to disable the Vibrate on my LG G.

You can mute (dissble) vibrate on the ZenWatch. (I'm surprised is not on lg.. It's in the pull down menu which is a wear menu.. In 5.0.1 on the watch.. What version of wear is on your LG?). Pull down on the main watchface screen.. Mute is the option down.. Scroll right for theatre mode, then outdoor mode, then settings, including about (unless that is asus custom, but I'm under the impression those are wear menus)

Are you saying: Show ALL option, NONE, Priority only options.?

No as I have only kit kat so I don't see what you see. I am saying you can do it on the watch itself (my menu may be different than yours)

it seemed the battery to my Zen would only last about 8 hours the first 2-3 days. Now it will go all day with out charging. I typically have about 30-40 % battery left at the end of the day. I recharge it every night.

I have the screen set to always on and the brightness level is set at 4.

I get a fair number of notifications during the day but don't use it much for texting. The voice recognition is pretty amazing though!

Yeh the battery life seems to be about the same as others but of course depends on how much you use it, if screen is always on and how many notifications you get! For me, screen off, maybe lasts a day and a half. Occasionally though it drains very quickly without warning so doesn't last a working day - anyone else get this?

There is an option 'tilt to wake screen' so you don't have to tap to wake it, but it does this more than intended for my liking due to arm movement.
