Im a blackberry guy but ready to make the jump because I see android dominating in the future.

So if I am in no huge rush but want one should I buy the droid (Im a vzw user) or should I wait for a few months if there is another android phone on the horizon for verizon that may be even better?

I'm kind of with you polit...(I wonder which side you're on...), I'm coming out of Palm land, which has served me so well for so long. I decided to hold until VZW got the Pre, but have concluded that Android is clearly going to win the open system wars since there's a half dozen companies building phones for it! And so many are en route. My main focus is a huge screen and keyboard, tho'...so I'm wondering why I'm waiting now. Oh, I have 200 at the moment!

I was going to wait for the Pre on Verizon also, but I took the Droid plunge because:
A) Pre coming to Verizon "sometime" in 2010
B) The screen on the Droid is killer
C) Apps, apps, and more apps. I think the Pre has like....35?

Guess the question is if I am going android, but can wait a few months is there something better than the droid coming down the pike?

I heard on one of the forums that a new HTC phone is going to be coming to Verizon, I think. Not sure which one, but it was one of the phones on their 2010 plan for Android phones.

Are you referring to the Passion? I can't decide if I should go with the Droid or wait for the Passion.....

I used to be on verizon. Urge you to do your homework before you take the plunge into a new device in case it turns out to be buggy like the original storm.

Im switching over to android from the S2 in a month. The original S1 was indeed a **** brick and the S2 wasnt much better. Id assume the passion will also have the sense UI like alot of other current HTC smartphones? If so id check out the eris and see if you like its general feel compared to stock android with no UI layered over it. If the passion will in fact have sense UI that could help make your decision.

If you like the Droid, go for it. There is always the next great phone right around the corner. The Droid is a great phone and remarkably bug free for a first gen device.

It is over 800 now, not bad considering the OS is only six months old.

If you like the platform, get a droid. There's always new toys that keep coming out. If you keep waiting for the biggest and the best, you'll be forever stuck with blackberry. Also, you do have a 30 day test drive. If you don't like it, give it back. If you're concerned about missing the next great phone that inevitably comes out a few months after you sign your contract, do a 1 year deal.

I do not text - at all. My TracFone costs $10/month. It does not have web access. I make about three calls a month. I will eventually get an Android phone with web access, so which one do you think will suit my needs?
