Okay I installed Wallet by side loading the apk. First time I have done this. Pretty easy but now I have a question. Can I delete the files I used to install the app? They wouldn't be required anymore for anything would they?

On an side note, is anyone else disappointed that Google is discontinuing the prepaid card on Google Wallet? I was using wallet in the convience store to buy a pop costing a whopping $0.74 to $1.29 depending on where I bought it. It was very convienent. But I don't want to do that anymore if I have to put it on my charge card. It is just too low of an amount to charge. So it looks like come Oct 17 I will not be using Wallet anymore except perhaps in an emergency situation. Why did they have to discontinue it? Why?

My guess, they are discontinuing it to give Verizon no reason to block the app anymore. Verizon will probably still block it since they have a monetary interest in ISIS. But as of now there is word that the big VZW has concern about the mastercard info being stored on the secure element of the phone itself.

But yeah, the way it works is "installing the app" is basically copying the app and moving that copy to a folder on the phone called /data/app/. You can do this with a computer and the phone if you wanted to get "technical" by having a copy of the apk you want to install in a folder with adb (android debugging bridge, a computer program by google). There is no user interface for adb, so you need to use command prompt. The command to install an app is:
Code:
adb push FILENAME.apk /data/app/
where adb is called
you are "pushing" the FILENAME.apk app to the folder /data/app/
Once the transfer is complete, the app will display in your app drawer. If you want the app to not be removable (like the "bloat" apps) you can change it to /system/app/ but this requires root level permissions and read/write access, otherwise known as being "rooted".

Hope this was informative.

Once Google made it to where you could add credit/debit cards I added mine.
The debit card I added is a prepaid card and therefore can control how much money is available though it.I can buy money paks when I need to add more money to it.I usually keep less than 100 dollars on it since I mainly use it for online stuff I never use a regular credit card to do that anymore.I just never had used my prepaid card till yesterday.

Since I read about Google was going to discontinued its prepaid card I have been using up my funds on it(still got 20 dollars to use).
Anyhoo I tested my prepaid card I had added to Google wallet at CVS yesterday and it work just as the prepaid Google card did. When they discontinued the Google prepaid card on Oct 17th , I'm all set to continue on using the Google app as if nothing has happened.:)

What a good idea! I never thought of buying my own debit type card and adding it to Google Wallet. That would definiately solve the problem for me! Thanks!
