Question on signal....

Well, never mind....it did not work. My signal suddenly went to 1x and would not come out of it so I did *228 and went back to the way it was. Thanks anyway for the tip!

I'm at a loss. This thing is getting terrible signal both at work and now at home. The Skyraider rom was working great, good battery life and the battery stayed cool. Now signal sucks, and the battery gets HOT all the time.

Maybe Verizon is doing this on purpose and forcing us to upgrade to a new phone if we are upgrade eligible...

The phone really went bonkers on me tonight. Even outside I could not manage better than 1x. 3G was not even an option, though two of my friends with VZW iphones were doing fine. Not just bars, they were able to quickly surf the net and play youtube videos and such.... my phone would not even open a webpage or send a picture message.

Now at home I am finally getting a 3G signal of -82 or so... but it fluctuates quite a bit.

I just dont know if the DInc is going to last much longer.

I don't remember if we tried this or not at this point.

Have you tried running the RUU to go back to full stock?

Do you have insurance? It almost sounds like the hardware radio or antena connection is having issues.

I do have insurance. I am not sure how to go back to stock. Upstreamiami rooted my phone remotely for me. I nave flashed roms via Rom manager, but not sure how to go back to stock. I am willing to try.

I am getting ready to run the RUU program via my laptop... will check back in when done...

I was going to suggest either the Preparing for OTA or Rooting stickies, but I see you found them. ;)

Good luck.

BTW - Insurance does not care if you're rooted. It only effects warranty not insurance.

Well, it is done. I will see how it does at work. If not any better, then time for a new phone I guess. Then I have to decide what to go for...

A few have done insurance deals and got the new Inc 2... but I have read that folks going from DInc to Inc 2 have said signal reception on the Inc 2 to be worse than DInc. Question will be what Asurion would send me.

My other one I am looking at is the iphone. I have those two friends with them and they are getting terrific reception AND battery life in the same spot I have no reception and burning up my battery.

If after tonight my signal reception does not get better, I will probably re root and set my phone back up as it was. Last night what i started doing was to turn off the 3G when I get to work and only turn it on at break time to get any emails awaiting me... and turn it on here and there if I needed to look something up. Aside from that I left 3G off and my battery made it thru 9 hours and was still at 70% and the battery stayed around 86 degrees.

OK, now that I am unrooted with s-off, how do I root again should I decide to?

As long as you haven't deleted the drivers from your computer you should just be able to run Unrevoked again. I was able to unroot and reroot with Unrevoked no problem. :D

Well..... I am sure the files are still there, but when I rooted my phone I had upstreamiami do it remotely, thru my computer. I have no clue how it was done. Will regular rooting methods work since I have s-off?

Yes, Unrevoked should still work for you. If you need help rooting there is a thread here that should tell you how to go about it, and don't hesitate to ask if you have any more questions.

I agree with DWM - Follow the instructions in the post carefully and you will have no problems. You will also be better off because you will understand the process better then having someone else do it for you. You have already done harder things than Unrevoked.

Ask questions if you have any.

Well, so far tonight things seem a bit better. Signal strength isn't much better but the phone seems capable of utilizing what little signal it is getting. The battery is doing much better and the phone is nowhere near as hot. I think skyraider 3.5 was good but i think the upgrade to 4.0 might have been the cause of my problems. We will just see how everything goes over next few days.

Thank you all for all your help!
